Gemstones - kwjewellery

Which stone for which occasion

Giving gemstones as gifts is a tradition that has been in existence since medieval times and maybe even earlier.

Personally I like the approach of simply choosing a stone that I find attractive, be that for it’s colour, shape or any other reason.

However, there are a great many of lists that you can use for inspiration. You could include a birthstone or astrological stone in your choice to make it more personal.

These gems are often set into rings, but you could also consider pendants, earrings and bracelets with the stone of your choice.

Each month of the year has a specific gemstone associated with it that is considered the "birthstone" for that month. Your birthstone is the gemstone that the month you are born is assigned to. Since the custom of wearing birthstone jewellery began, it has been thought to provide the wearer with luck and other virtues, specific to their month of birth.

March Aquamarine
April Diamond

June Pearl
July Ruby

November Citrine & Topaz

Astrological Gemstones
The most widely used choice of stones in jewellery are birthstones, however there are other choices to consider, for example, your astrological stone. There are a great many lists about with about as many different suggestions as there are different personalities within one star sign. Here is a list of which stone goes with which astrological sign, however I believe that your best bet is to go with your intuition and choose the one that you are most attracted to:
